Eye Cups
I recently bought an eye cup for the scope on my new TX200 MkI FT rig. I’ve never used an eye cup before simply because the ones I have tried in the past either smudged my glasses from the sweat that collected on it or pushed my glasses back into my face. I never found one that really worked well for me.
I bought my new eye cup from David Slade at Airgunwerks. I first saw it at the Bluegrass 100 last fall and had a chance to try it out. I found that the problems that I had with other eye cups could be eliminated just by pushing the eye cup forward a bit more so that it didn’t touch my face. It still would shield my eye from ambient light but it wouldn’t smudge my glasses or push them back into my face. That is good for another reason, since I am shooting a spring gun having the eye cup pressing against my face may affect where the pellets hit.
The eye cup is formed with a piece that extended rearward to cover the side of your eye. The rest of the cup surrounds the front of the eye and blocks out light. This allows a really clear, bright image from the scope without any ambient light washing out the image. This would be particularly handy when you are in a bright firing position and the target is in a dark location. Blocking the ambient light will make it easier to see the target clearly.
David usually has a good supply of the eye cups on hand and they go for around $27 plus shipping. I bought an additional two cups and I plan to put them on a couple of my other target rifles.
