Airgun Addiction

I have been sick for the past two weeks. I found out last night that it is a respiratory virus that is going around our area and that there isn’t anything that I can do about it but pray. My wife got it a few days before I did so we both suffered through it together. I hate getting sick. Usually it means couple of days of rest and then I am up and back at it again. This time it hasn’t been that way. I feel extremely tired all the time and just want to sleep. My head hurts and my fever comes and goes.

I have had a lot of time to think while lying around waiting for my body to beat this virus. Mostly I thought about airgun stuff and I realized just how addicted to airgun and shooting I am. While resting but not sleeping I must have run through a dozen different field target designs in my head and thought about scopes, course designs, new target faces, shooting positions, stock changes, trigger adjustments and other such stuff. I thought of other things of course but I came to realize how much I enjoy just thinking about shooting and designing stuff to shoot. The creative process is a lot of fun for me and has become a big part of my airgun hobby. Creating new targets out of a bunch of metal bits is really satisfying for me.

Over the past few days I have been getting antsy. I really want to get out my airguns and shoot. I also can’t wait to get back into my shop and get to working on some of my airgun projects. I also have a couple of articles I want to write and some stuff to test but I still feel too run down at the end of the day and have to rest. I will just have to wait this virus out, which is hard for me since I tend to be rather impatient. If the doc is right, I should be back up and shooting by the weekend. I really hope he is right, I am ready to be well again and get back to my airgunning addiction!
